What is this About? Splendid Teapot Racing was one of those, "will I get committed for this..." thoughts in the middle of the night but wouldn't it be FUN. I submitted the idea to SteampunkNZ Festival as concept and in conjunction with them, in 2014 I ran the very first Splendid Teapot Racing event EVER held in the World at Oamaru. Of course it wouldn't have happened with out Captain Various Miscellaneous Bitsandpieces (Norm Riley) making the course! It was a night of mayhem, hysterics and fun. Splendid Teapot Racing is inclusive, for all ages and skills levels. It is about participation and having a jolly splendid time. (Taken from: https://splendidteapotracing.com/ ) Simply put. I is a race against time... 3 minutes to be precise... in which each participant has to navigate from one side of the course to the other with their own racer. The course is a obstacle course made up of ramps (small), arches, tunnels, teeter-totters, and precariously balanced tea cups. Each racer must go from one end to the other as best possible and breaking the least amount of china (there is a prize for the one who breaks the most.) Each racer must bring his own car; which should be decorated in such a fashion as to have a teapot of some sort on top of it! Each racer will compete individually and be judged by a panel of 3 persons, and those members can be bribed! Each racer must complete the course in a sportmanlike fashion, or in the most impressive way possible... points are given for each! It is meant for all ages, but we propose to run ONE race each afternoon in order to allow folks to enjoy the rest of the Maker Fair and still be able to gather around and watch the races. There will be Ribbons for 1st-3rd place, and a few ribbons for other categories as well. We need you to contact us and please let us know if you plan on racing so we know amount of people. You can click on the event link for info and RSVP there.
A home hobby shop that has taken adopted Steampunk inspired leather crafting. We strive to make things new, fresh and unique. Our items vary in size and can be big or small, all with the customer’s design in mind. We make personal items that take hours of pre-planning, designing and learning of new crafts in order to complete, many are more than just leather. Using drafting knowledge, we review all parts of the design prior to construction, details, and even measurements to assure that everything fits exactly to how we need it. We are ever growing in our makings, items, ideas, and costume builds. Please check out our links to see all we have accomplished.
