LIVE Simulator – Learning Inside Virtual Environments – Virtual Reality Training for Public Safety

What if you could practice managing a complex fire scene, without any risk to property or personnel? What if you could master incident command without having to rely on teams of proctors to facilitate your training? What if you could train on master your hydraulic calculations and flowing thousands of gallons of "water" without wasting a single drop? The LIVE Simulator (Learning Inside Virtual Environments) is a virtual reality training platform developed by a Firefighter FOR Firefighters, with an intense focus on critical thinking. Developed in the Unreal 4 Engine using the HTC Vive VR Headset, the Live Simulator allows for the actual chance at transferring experience from one person to many.

A Firefighter/Paramedic with 10 years of experience, Blake grew frustrated with the lack of effective training in Public Safety, particularly when it came to the critical thinking skills. He learned to work in a game engine and 3D model to create the LIVE Simulator (Learning Inside Virtual Environments). He believes it is possible to transfer what we call “experience” from one person to another with current technology.
